Guitar Lessons

This semester-long guitar course introduces students to the fundamentals of guitar playing through hands-on instruction and guided practice. Students will learn proper posture and technique, basic music reading, chord shapes, strumming and picking patterns, and introductory music theory concepts. The course emphasizes consistent practice, listening skills, and musical expression while building confidence in individual and group performance. By the end of the semester, students will be able to perform simple melodies and songs, accompany themselves and others, and demonstrate a foundational understanding of guitar technique and musicianship. Individual self practice is required!

This semester-long course offers individualized instruction in both voice and piano, tailored to each student’s skill level and musical goals. Whether you’re a beginner exploring music for the first time or a more advanced student refining your technique, this course provides the foundation and flexibility to grow as a well-rounded musician.

Throughout the semester, students will work on solo repertoire in both disciplines, with opportunities to perform and end-of-semester recitals. Regular practice outside of lessons is essential for progress and will be supported through goal-setting and practice strategies.

Positive Strategies for Today's Children

Basic Carpentry

Participants will learn essential carpentry techniques such as measuring and marking, cutting, fastening, and assembling simple projects without the use of power tools. The class highlights problem-solving, craftsmanship, and an understanding of materials, helping students develop a strong foundation in woodworking skills that can be applied to everyday home projects.

Guitar Series

This four-week beginner guitar course is designed for students with little to no prior guitar experience. Participants will learn the fundamentals of playing guitar in a supportive, hands-on environment while building confidence and basic musicianship skills.

Throughout the series, students will be introduced to proper guitar posture, tuning, basic chords, simple strumming patterns, and easy songs. Instruction focuses on practical skills that allow students to start playing music quickly while developing a strong foundation for continued learning.

By the end of the four-week series, students will be able to tune their guitar, play several basic chords, strum along to simple songs, and understand essential guitar terminology. This class is ideal for those who want a structured introduction to guitar before continuing with private lessons or more advanced group classes.

No prior music experience required. Students can bring their own acoustic guitar or use one available. UAHT Guitars are first come, first serve upon registration and payment. 

Class days will be March 3, 5, 10, & 12.

Participants will learn how to identify common vehicle components, understand routine maintenance needs, and perform simple checks with confidence. The class also covers how to recognize warning signs, communicate effectively with mechanics, and make informed decisions about vehicle care.

Students will be able to change a tire, replace windsheild wipers, recognize warning lights, and more!
