Guitar Lessons
with Rachel Parson
This semester-long guitar course introduces students to the fundamentals of guitar playing through hands-on instruction and guided practice. Students will learn proper posture and technique, basic music reading, chord shapes, strumming and picking patterns, and introductory music theory concepts. The course emphasizes consistent practice, listening skills, and musical expression while building confidence in individual and group performance. By the end of the semester, students will be able to perform simple melodies and songs, accompany themselves and others, and demonstrate a foundational understanding of guitar technique and musicianship. Individual self practice is required!

Voice/Piano Lessons
with Haley Patillo
This semester-long course offers individualized instruction in both voice and piano, tailored to each student’s skill level and musical goals. Whether you’re a beginner exploring music for the first time or a more advanced student refining your technique, this course provides the foundation and flexibility to grow as a well-rounded musician.
Throughout the semester, students will work on solo repertoire in both disciplines, with opportunities to perform and end-of-semester recitals. Regular practice outside of lessons is essential for progress and will be supported through goal-setting and practice strategies.

Positive Strategies for Today's Children

This course is designed to support parents, caregivers, and educators in understanding and responding to the unique emotional, social, and developmental needs of today’s children. Participants will explore positive, practical strategies that encourage healthy behavior, emotional regulation, and strong relationships.
Through discussion and real-life examples, the class focuses on proactive approaches that build connection, resilience, and confidence in children. Emphasis is placed on guidance over punishment, helping adults feel more confident and effective in supporting children’s growth in a rapidly changing world.

Forklift Operator Training
with Dr. Iry Rice
This course provides formal classroom instruction with evaluation and practical hands-on training with evaluation in accordance with OSHA standards. Completing both portions of the training results in the issuance of a forklift operator training certification card valid for 3 years. OSHA requires the employer to ensure that every powered industrial truck (forklift) operator is competent in the operation of a truck prior to operating as proven by the successful completion of the required training. This course focuses on the required elements of a forklift operator training program outlined in the OSHA forklift standard, 29 CFR 1910.178. The classroom instruction element provides general information on all types of forklifts and is followed by a written examination. The practical hands-on training provides specific instruction on the forklift operated by the trainee and is followed by an evaluation of performance. Training certification is issued for successful completion of both elements of the training process. To be legally employed as a forklift operator in any state in the U.S, a person must be at least 18 years of age and obtain certification.
Basic Carpentry

This hands-on class introduces the fundamentals of basic carpentry using traditional hand tools only. Designed for beginners, the course focuses on building practical skills while emphasizing safety, accuracy, and confidence in working with wood—no prior experience required.
Participants will learn essential carpentry techniques such as measuring and marking, cutting, fastening, and assembling simple projects without the use of power tools. The class highlights problem-solving, craftsmanship, and an understanding of materials, helping students develop a strong foundation in woodworking skills that can be applied to everyday home projects.
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Level 1
with Ken Walsh
This is a hands-on training where you will learn basic programming, maintenance and troubleshooting PLC based industrial controls using PLC trainers with Allen Bradley/ Rockwell Automation Control-Logix hardware and Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 and RSLinx software. The central processing unit is a 1769-L36ERM. The basic operating principles of all PLCs, their inputs and outputs (discrete and analog), programming, maintenance, and networking will be covered.
