Guitar Series
with Rachel Parson
This four-week beginner guitar course is designed for students with little to no prior guitar experience. Participants will learn the fundamentals of playing guitar in a supportive, hands-on environment while building confidence and basic musicianship skills.
Throughout the series, students will be introduced to proper guitar posture, tuning, basic chords, simple strumming patterns, and easy songs. Instruction focuses on practical skills that allow students to start playing music quickly while developing a strong foundation for continued learning.
By the end of the four-week series, students will be able to tune their guitar, play several basic chords, strum along to simple songs, and understand essential guitar terminology. This class is ideal for those who want a structured introduction to guitar before continuing with private lessons or more advanced group classes.
No prior music experience required. Students can bring their own acoustic guitar or use one available. UAHT Guitars are first come, first serve upon registration and payment.
Class days will be March 3, 5, 10, & 12.

This course is designed to help students develop effective study habits and time management skills that support academic success and reduce stress. Participants will learn practical strategies to improve focus, organization, and productivity, while gaining tools to manage workloads more efficiently.
The class explores different learning styles, effective note-taking and study techniques, and methods for planning and prioritizing tasks. By building strong time management skills, students will be better equipped to balance school responsibilities with other commitments and feel more confident in their ability to succeed.

Introduction to Blacksmithing
with Luke Sorensen
This hands-on class introduces students to the fundamentals of blacksmithing, including forge safety, basic tool use, and essential forging techniques. Participants will learn how to heat, shape, and manipulate steel while creating simple projects to build confidence and skill at the anvil. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to learn and work with fire and metal.
Effective Communication Skills for Everyday Life

This course is designed to help individuals strengthen their communication skills in personal, professional, and social settings. Participants will learn how effective communication builds stronger relationships, reduces misunderstandings, and increases confidence in everyday interactions.
Through practical examples and interactive discussion, the class explores key communication techniques such as active listening, clear expression, and assertive communication. Participants will gain tools to navigate difficult conversations, express needs and boundaries respectfully, and communicate more effectively in a variety of real-life situations.

Forklift Operator Training
with Dr. Iry Rice
This course provides formal classroom instruction with evaluation and practical hands-on training with evaluation in accordance with OSHA standards. Completing both portions of the training results in the issuance of a forklift operator training certification card valid for 3 years. OSHA requires the employer to ensure that every powered industrial truck (forklift) operator is competent in the operation of a truck prior to operating as proven by the successful completion of the required training. This course focuses on the required elements of a forklift operator training program outlined in the OSHA forklift standard, 29 CFR 1910.178. The classroom instruction element provides general information on all types of forklifts and is followed by a written examination. The practical hands-on training provides specific instruction on the forklift operated by the trainee and is followed by an evaluation of performance. Training certification is issued for successful completion of both elements of the training process. To be legally employed as a forklift operator in any state in the U.S, a person must be at least 18 years of age and obtain certification.
Basic Car Maintenance

This class is designed to help participants gain a practical understanding of basic car maintenance and care. Ideal for beginners, the course focuses on essential knowledge and hands-on tips that can help extend the life of a vehicle, improve safety, and reduce repair costs.
Participants will learn how to identify common vehicle components, understand routine maintenance needs, and perform simple checks with confidence. The class also covers how to recognize warning signs, communicate effectively with mechanics, and make informed decisions about vehicle care.
Students will be able to change a tire, replace windsheild wipers, recognize warning lights, and more!
